Santa's hat is a powerful magical talisman belonging to Santa Claus.[1]

History[]

Santa's hat is the magical talisman of Santa Claus's current incarnation. When Santa was rescued from by the Serpent Brotherhood by the Librarians, Eve Baird gave his hat to Ezekiel Jones in order to create a distraction. As the hat was a powerful key to Santa's magic, its loss made him more susceptible to the poison in his system from the kidnapping, and also made it more difficult to maintain his current incarnation.

While wearing the hat, Ezekiel was overcome with a desire to help people and create Christmas cheer, including giving money to people, playing with children, baking, stuffing stockings, and letting the pilot they'd hired go home to spend Christmas with his fiancée.

After Eve convinced Dulaque that the hat was a powerful magical object, Dulaque took it from Ezekiel and wore it himself. With it influencing him, the Librarians were able to talk him into making Lamia leave by declaring it to be their greatest wish. However, the hat's magic was not strong enough to influence him into revealing the secrets of the Brotherhood, or how to stop them, and he pulled it off his head.

Santa got his hat back at that point, although its power was not enough to fully restore him.[1]
