Biography[]
The Harness was an artifact seen in Season 4, Episode 11 of The Librarians. After the younger librarians read from the First Scroll that was ever put in the library, the Trial of the One was initiated to determine who the one true librarian was, who would tether to the library with Library Guardian Eve Baird. (It was supposed to be Flynn Carsen, but he appeared to resign from the library weeks earlier.) Some spirit took Jenkins through Judson’s mirror, and possessed him. This spirit, possibly the Spirit of the Library, held him hostage with the Harness of Mahakali. It holds the wearer at knifepoint, can never be removed, and will be triggered by the user. Eve Baird was able to remove Jenkins from the Harness by anchoring the Harness in place using the First Scroll and then pushing the button that ends the trial to return the cast to the Annex. However, once the cast returned to the Annex unharmed, the Harness of Mahakali zoomed through the Back Door and took hold of Jenkins again. It then performed Mahakali’s Kiss, stabbing Jenkins and killing him. The Shroud of Lazarus could not heal him.
Description[]
The Harness wraps around the shoulders and waist, aligning its attached blade to the heart in the chest so that it can kill. It responds to triggered events determined by whoever has magically put the Harness in place. Its wounds cannot be magically healed.
Abilities[]
- Attachment: The Harness cannot be removed except by more powerful magic.
- Magical Murder: The Harness can kill a person with a wound that can’t be healed by magic. This is apparently triggered by the user.
- Independent Travel: The Harness can go from one dimension to another independently in order to fulfill its magical intention.
