Professor Roger Bancroft was on the faculty at Wexler University and a world-renowned authority on architecture. He was a personal hero of Jacob Stone - at least until the two met.

Biography

Roger Bancroft, B.A., M.A., C.Phil., Ph.D. (as he was more than willing to remind almost anyone, it seems) held a dozen degrees and was revered around the globe as, generally speaking, the last word on post-colonial architecture. For reasons never deeply explored, although presumably at least in part financial, he was working at Wexler when the Librarians arrived to investigate the disappearance of the school mascot. As part of their local research, Eve Baird and Jacob contacted the professor, and Jacob was thrilled to have a chance to discuss one of his favorite fields, architecture, with one of its modern titans. Things soon degenerated, however, since Bancroft was utterly dismissive of Jacob's every idea, and verbally abusive at the concept that there might be such a thing as magic. This goaded Jacob, although it was not any real surprise since he had warned Eve that Bancroft was 'academically aggressive' as they approached. Bancroft's arrogance drew the attention of the Hybristic which extended a tentacle into this reality and claimed the professor - permanently.

Jacob Stone proceeded to substitute for Bancroft in the lecture he was due to give, and along with identifying the key buildings for the summoning circle from their foundations, he was able to slip in his personal mantra, that "Architecture is just art - that we live in".
